The Legend of Zelda

Deen only ever played The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. He loved the game for its open-world adventure and the endless possibilities it offered, allowing him to escape from the harsh reality of his illness. Deen was especially proud of completing the Trial of the Sword, a challenging series of combat trials, and conquering the game on Master Mode. His determination to overcome these challenges mirrored his fight against DIPG.

During his radiotherapy treatments, Deen found comfort in watching videos of people speedrunning the game, dreaming of new adventures in Hyrule when he was well enough to play again. Sadly, he passed away before Tears of the Kingdom  was released. He had been eagerly anticipating the sequel, excited to explore new landscapes and take on fresh challenges. Given his passion for Minecraft and Breath of the Wild, there's no doubt he would have cherished every moment in the new game.

As his illness progressed, and mobility became increasingly difficult, his Nintendo Switch remained one of the few sources of joy. Even when he could no longer walk, Deen's spirit remained unbroken as he navigated the world of Hyrule, where his bravery and determination shone brightly in a place where there were no boundaries. In his final months, the Zelda games provided a form of escape that eased some of the pain he endured.
